Punjab University Resumes Physical Classes from April 1

Punjab University Resumes Physical Classes from April 1

The University of the Punjab PU has officially notified the resumption of all physical academic activities starting April 1, 2026. This announcement follows a brief period of online learning and fuel conservation measures mandated earlier in March. According to the official notification issued by the Registrars office, the decision was made in compliance with the latest directives from the Higher Education Commission HEC to restore standard campus operations.

End of Remote Learning Phase

Following the notifications issued on March 10 and 11, the university had shifted to a virtual mode to support national austerity goals. However, as of today, students of all departments—including Science, Humanities, and Engineering—are required to attend their on campus classes in person. This move is aimed at ensuring that laboratory work, research projects, and face-to-face interactions between faculty and students can continue without further interruption.

Compliance and Administrative Directives

The Registrar, Dr. Ahmad Islam, has confirmed that the university is fully prepared to welcome students back. The Punjab University notification has been circulated to all relevant deans and heads of departments to ensure a smooth transition. Key highlights include:
  • Full Attendance: Regular attendance policies are now back in effect.
  • Research & Labs: All technical and scientific labs are fully operational for physical research.
  • Examination Prep: Upcoming assessments and mid-term evaluations will now likely follow a physical format.

Students are encouraged to check their PU student portals for any specific departmental timetable adjustments as the university returns to its full-scale traditional learning environment.
