Punjab Schools Shift to Shortened Timings and Winter Breaks Announced
Punjab Education Initiatives Management Authority has released the date sheet for the mid-term school-based assessment SBA tests 2025-26 for students in grades 1 through 8. According to the schedule, the first SBA test is set to take place on 12 December 2025. Revised School Timings from December 8
In addition to the SBA date sheet schedule, the Punjab Education Department has revised school timings effective 8 December 2025. For morning shift schools, the new hours are 9:30 am to 11:30 am, reducing the school day to just two hours. Afternoon shifts will operate from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with Friday timings adjusted to 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
Punjab Winter Vacation 2025
The Punjab government has announced the winter holiday schedule 2025 for all educational institutions in the province. Winter vacations will run from 23 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, with schools reopening on 13 January 2026. This schedule applies uniformly to both government and private schools, ensuring consistency across the province.
Extended Winter Break in Balochistan
The Government of Balochistan has announced a longer winter vacation for schools in colder regions, lasting two and a half months starting 16 December 2025, to protect students from harsh weather. Schools in these areas will reopen on 1 March 2026.
In Chaman, annual examinations for junior classes are already in progress. Exams for grades 1 to 7 began on 16 November 2025 and will continue until 24 November 2025. Class 8 exams, conducted under the Balochistan Board, are scheduled to start on 24 November 2025.
Meanwhile, Punjab schools will follow their announced winter break, closing from 23 December 2025 to 12 January 2026, with all institutions reopening on 13 January 2026. Both government and private schools are required to adhere to this schedule to maintain uniformity across the province.
