Punjab Schools Prohibit Use of Sticks to Curb Student Violence
In response to the rising cases of physical abuse in Punjab’s schools, the School Education Department has implemented a ban on the possession and use of sticks on school premises. The students can get fresh information of Punjab Schools Prohibit Use of Sticks to Curb Student Violence.
Strict Measures Announced Against Corporal Punishment in Schools
Official records reveal that during the 2024-25 academic year, over 70 incidents of corporal punishment were reported, while 81 cases have already been documented this year. Despite multiple resolutions presented in the Punjab Assembly, no formal legislation has yet been enacted to fully address these violations.
Authorities have warned that any teacher found using or keeping sticks on school grounds will face strict disciplinary action. In instances of severe violence, FIRs will be filed against the responsible educators.
Nonetheless, concerns remain. At Government High School Kareem Block, reports suggest that students continue to be punished for minor offenses, such as arriving late. The Lahore Education Authority has not yet issued a formal statement regarding these ongoing violations, leaving questions about enforcement and oversight.
