Government schools across Punjab are still waiting for an official notification about the launch of Punjab Summer Camps 2026, even though the provincial government has already approved the initiative for selected schools. The delay has created uncertainty among teachers, students, and parents as summer vacations continue across the province. According to official reports, the camps are expected to begin in early June to help students stay academically engaged during the long break.

The development matters because thousands of students in government schools rely on these learning camps to revise coursework, recover missed lessons, and prepare for the next academic session. Education experts say the camps could become especially important this year after repeated academic disruptions caused by weather conditions, schedule changes, and early school closures in Punjab.

Punjab School Education Department Plans Learning Camps

Officials from the Punjab School Education Department have reportedly finalized plans to establish more than 6,000 learning camps in selected government schools across 12 districts. Early information suggests around 3,030 schools may participate in the program once the formal notification is issued.

The proposed camps are expected to run from June 2 to August 7, 2026. Authorities plan to conduct sessions five days a week during morning hours to reduce students’ exposure to extreme temperatures.

Reports indicate the camps will operate from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM. School administrations have also been instructed to monitor teacher attendance and student participation closely to ensure the program runs effectively.

Why Punjab Government Schools Are Waiting

Despite the approval, schools are still awaiting the official circular that would formally authorize camp operations. This pending notification has slowed preparations in several districts where school administrations were expecting clear instructions regarding staffing, attendance policies, and learning schedules.

The uncertainty has also raised questions among parents about whether participation will be compulsory or optional. Previous summer camp policies in Punjab allowed voluntary participation and restricted Institutions in Pakistan from charging additional fees.

The issue comes shortly after the Punjab government announced extended summer holidays for public and private schools because of rising temperatures. Schools across the province officially closed in May and are expected to reopen in late August.
