Punjab School Timings & Dress Code Modifications due to Cold Weather
The Department of Special Education in Punjab has made alterations to the school hours for special children across the province, citing the cold weather as the primary reason. In an official notification, the department conveyed that these adjusted school hours would be in effect from January 10 to the end of February. Under the revised schedule, schools will commence at 9 AM and conclude at 2 PM from Monday to Saturday. However, on Fridays, the school day will conclude at noon, providing a slightly shortened schedule at the end of the week.

Relaxation in Dress Code
To mitigate the impact of the cold weather and address financial concerns, the Department of Special Education has introduced a relaxation in the dress code. Students are now permitted to wear sweaters and jackets of their choice in addition to the standard uniform.
Winter Break Extension and Revisions
Earlier, the provincial government had declared an extension of the winter break, resulting in the closure of all public and private educational institutions in the province until January 9. Initially set to reopen on January 1, the extension was prompted by the ongoing cold weather conditions.
Similarly, the Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had also extended the winter break until January 7. However, the Private Education Network PEN expressed dissent, urging concerned officials to reconsider this decision.
