Punjab School Sports Committees Formed for Revival 2026
Punjab School Education Department has taken a significant step to bring back sports activities in government schools by setting up dedicated sports committees at both tehsil and centre levels throughout the province. The students can get the latest updates of Punjab Govt Revives School Sports Through New Committees.
As per official details, the Tehsil Sports Committees will be led by the respective Assistant Commissioners. These committees will include deputy education officers, sports officers, and headmasters from different schools, who will work together to supervise and promote sports initiatives in their areas.
In addition, Centre-Level Sports Committees have been constituted under the supervision of Deputy District Education Officers. These committees will include Physical Education Teachers along with prominent local sports figures to actively involve students in various athletic activities and strengthen sports participation at the grassroots level.
According to officials, the committees will function under clearly defined Terms of Reference. Their responsibilities will include organizing sports competitions, encouraging regular physical exercise, and contributing to the overall physical and character development of students.
Education authorities are confident that this initiative will restore the sports culture in schools and foster teamwork, discipline, healthy competition, and active lifestyles among students across Punjab.
