Punjab Revises Admission Policy for Medical and Dental Institutes

Punjab Revises Admission Policy for Medical and Dental Institutes

The government of Punjab has recently made adjustments to the admission policy for public sector medical and dental institutions in the province. These changes signify a departure from the previous practice of granting additional marks to Hafiz-e-Quran candidates during the admission process. The candidates can get fresh updates of Punjab Revises Admission Policy for Medical and Dental Institutes.

New Admission Policy:

Under the updated admission policy, Hafiz-e-Quran candidates will no longer receive an additional 20 marks in the merit calculation for the upcoming admissions. This significant alteration aligns with the decision made by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC, prompting the Punjab Health Department to implement these changes.

Background:

Notably, in April, the Supreme Court of Pakistan addressed this matter through a suo motu case. A six-member bench, led by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, oversaw the case. During the proceedings, Afnan Kundi, the lawyer representing PMDC, informed the bench that the practice of awarding 20 extra marks to candidates had already been discontinued. Consequently, the bench, finding no ongoing issue, made the decision to close the suo motu case.

With these revisions to the admission policy, Punjabs public sector medical and dental institutes are set to adopt a fairer and more equitable approach to the admission process, ensuring that all applicants are assessed on an equal footing.
