Punjab Overhauls Matric and Inter Exam System

Punjab Overhauls Matric and Inter Exam System

Board Committee of Chairmen BOC of Punjab’s nine educational boards has approved significant reforms to the exam process, ending the traditional manual system of paper marking and monitoring for matriculation and intermediate annual exams. These changes aim to modernize assessments and enhance transparency across the province. The students can check the fresh information of Punjab Overhauls Matric and Inter Exam System.

Introduction of Biometric Verification and Digital Assessment

Under the new system, biometric attendance will become mandatory for all male and female students appearing in exams. Beginning in 2026, candidates enrolling in Class 9 and Class 11 will need to provide their thumb impressions during registration. These biometric records will be used for verification and to control entry into exam centers. Both government and private schools are responsible for arranging biometric devices and laptops, while exam boards will supply the necessary software.

Another major change is the shift to digital paper marking. Answer sheets will be scanned and evaluated on computer screens, reducing human errors and ensuring more accurate and transparent assessments. In addition, the science practical exams have been upgraded to involve genuine assessments rather than being treated as routine exercises.

This year, the reforms will be partially implemented, starting with biometric registration for Class 9 and Class 11 students. CCTV cameras will also be installed at all exam centers to strengthen monitoring. In the Rawalpindi Division alone, 400 matric and intermediate exam centers are being equipped with CCTV systems, funded by students, as part of the new oversight measures.
