Mines Labor Welfare Commissioner, under the Government of Punjab, offers scholarships to the children of miners. This financial aid is available to students from primary school to postgraduate programs, ensuring support for education across all levels. Eligible families can apply for scholarships for up to two children. The Mines Labor Welfare Office will provide an annual stipend to selected students, and the deadline to apply has been extended to November 20, 2024. Annual Stipend Structure for Punjab Mines Scholarship

Students receiving the scholarship will be awarded an annual stipend based on their level of education:

  • Primary Class 1 to 5: PKR 1,200/-
  • Middle Class 6 to 8: PKR 15,000/-
  • Matric Class 9 to 10: PKR 18,000/-
  • Intermediate Class 11 to 12: PKR 24,000/-
  • Graduate BA/BSc/B.Com - Day Scholars: PKR 30,000/-
  • Graduate BA/BSc/B.Com - Boarders: PKR 40,000/-
  • Postgraduate/Masters/BS/BBA/Medical/Engineering Day Scholars: PKR 60,000/-
  • Postgraduate/Masters/BS/BBA/Medical/Engineering Boarders: PKR 80,000/-

Eligibility Criteria for the Mines Labor Welfare Commissioner Punjab Scholarship

To qualify for the scholarship 2024, the miner or worker must meet the following requirements:

  • Miner Qualification: The worker must fulfill the definition of a miner according to the Mining Industrial and Commercial Employment Ordinance of 1968. The worker must be registered with the EOBI Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution and have at least 3 years of employment.

  • Exemptions for Employment Duration: For categories 1, 2, and 3, no minimum employment duration is required.

  • EOBI Registration Alternatives: If the miner is not registered with EOBI, they may submit an affidavit attested by a notary public along with complete data verified by the assistant mines labor welfare commissioner.

  • Children of Deceased/Disabled Workers: Children of miners who are deceased or disabled are eligible for the scholarship.

Exclusions:

  • Students studying in Mines Labor Welfare Organization schools or schools under the Punjab Workers Welfare Board are not eligible.

  • Students already receiving scholarships from the Workers Welfare Board cannot apply.

  • Prep and nursery students are not eligible.

  • Retired Workers: Retired workers receiving a pension from EOBI are eligible to apply.

How to Apply for the Punjab Mines Labor Welfare Scholarship


Applicants must visit the Mines Labor Welfare offices located in Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Khushab, D.G. Khan, or Multan to obtain the application forms. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Along with the application form, the following documents must be submitted:

  • Miner’s CNIC.
  • Social Security Card or Old Age Benefit Card of the worker/miner.
  • Attested copy of the worker’s firm card or appointment letter.
  • CNIC or Family Registration Certificate FRC issued by NADRA for the student.
  • Proof of Death Grant or Disability Pension for children of deceased or disabled miners.
