Punjab Introduces New Assessment System to Replace Practical Exams
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced a comprehensive set of examination reforms aimed at improving transparency and curbing cheating across the province. He stated that after successfully reducing malpractice in the first year, the government now plans to strengthen the overall assessment process. Education Minister Unveils Major Reforms for Transparent and Fair Examinations
According to the minister, the traditional practical exams will be replaced with multiple-choice questions MCQs starting this year. He further mentioned that the government intends to pursue a constitutional amendment to enable paper rechecking, while a higher rechecking fee will be introduced to manage the large number of candidates applying for it.
Rana Sikandar Hayat also revealed that the exam paper format will now focus on concept-based learning rather than rote memorization. To ensure fairness and efficiency during examinations, the daily allowance for invigilators has been raised to Rs. 5,000, and only trained personnel will be allowed to perform invigilation duties.
Additionally, the minister announced that university teaching assistants will be permitted to assist during exams, and the government will seek collaboration from both public and private sectors to ensure the smooth implementation of these reforms.
