Punjab Inter Students Face Backlash Over Massive CCTV Fee Hike
All education boards across Punjab have significantly increased the fee for the installation of CCTV cameras at examination centers for the Intermediate annual exams set to take place in May 2026. The charge has jumped from Rs. 30 to Rs. 1,030 per student, causing widespread concern among students and their families. Sharp Increase in Surveillance Charges Sparks Parents’ Outrage
The revised amount has been added directly to the examination admission fee, leading to strong reactions over what many describe as an excessive and sudden increase. Previously, during the Matric annual examinations, students were only required to pay Rs. 30 each for CCTV arrangements.
However, the dramatic rise to Rs. 1,030 for Intermediate candidates has drawn sharp criticism throughout the province. Parents have expressed their dissatisfaction and urged authorities to reconsider and reverse the decision. They argue that the responsibility for installing surveillance systems lies with schools and examination boards rather than placing the financial burden on students.
According to parents, collecting such a large amount from thousands of students will result in millions of rupees being gathered, which they believe is both unreasonable and unjust. They maintain that education-related expenses should not be increased in a way that adds further pressure on families already facing financial challenges.
