Punjab Implements Two Weekly Holidays for Government Schools
The Punjab government has announced that all government schools in the province will now be closed on Saturdays, providing both teachers and students with two weekly holidays. This decision aims to alleviate the workload on teachers and foster their professional development. Initiative for Teachers Professional Development
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat revealed that Saturdays will be dedicated to teacher training. He also indicated that the working hours might be extended on other days to accommodate this change.
Addressing Teacher Workload
Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized that this Saturday holiday is part of a larger strategy to reduce the heavy workload on government school teachers. "Government school teachers are overwhelmed with work," he noted. "This initiative will help alleviate their burden."
New Weekly Schedule
Starting this week, teaching in Punjabs government schools will be conducted from Monday to Friday. Saturdays will be exclusively reserved for teacher training sessions, allowing educators to enhance their teaching skills and methodologies without the usual classroom pressures.
Ensuring Educational Quality
The minister assured that this change is designed to maximize instructional time during the weekdays, ensuring that the quality of education is maintained despite the introduction of Saturday holidays. "This adjustment aims to ensure that the quality of education remains uncompromised," he stated.
