Punjab Govt Summer Holidays Schedule for Schools 2026
The Government of Punjab has officially announced summer vacations for all public and private schools across the province. The decision was confirmed by Rana Sikandar Hayat in response to increasing temperatures and forecasts predicting an intense heatwave during the upcoming summer months. Educational Institutions to Remain Closed from May 22 Until August 24
According to the official announcement, summer holidays will begin on Friday, May 22, 2026, while schools are scheduled to reopen on Monday, August 24, 2026. During this period, all educational institutions, including government, semi-government, and private schools, will remain closed for academic activities, study, admission and exams.
The notification was issued after a high-level meeting chaired by the provincial education minister, where weather conditions and reports from disaster management authorities were reviewed carefully. Officials stated that the extended break has been planned to safeguard students, teachers, and school staff from severe heat conditions expected during June and July and there will be no academic activities for 5th, 8th, 9th and 10th classes.
The announced schedule provides nearly three months of holidays, making it one of the longest summer breaks introduced in recent years. Authorities explained that the decision reflects the government’s focus on student health and safety as extreme weather conditions continue to affect different parts of the province but this decision can badly affect the exams of the students.
Punjab has become one of the first provinces to finalize its summer vacation schedule for 2026, while other provinces in Pakistan are expected to announce their own holiday plans separately according to regional weather conditions.
