Punjab Govt Orders Enhanced Security Measures in All Schools
The Punjab government has issued strict directives for the implementation of security protocols in all public and private schools. Every school campus is now required to have 8-foot boundary walls with barbed wire to enhance protection amid growing security concerns. Surveillance and Monitoring Requirements
Schools must maintain security guards, CCTV cameras, and webcams at all times. The installation of metal detectors and panic buttons at entry points is now compulsory, with staff required to monitor main gates and ensure continuous deployment of security personnel.
Controlled Access and Emergency Preparedness
Institutions are instructed to operate through a single gate during regular school days to monitor entry and exit effectively. Schools must also conduct emergency mock drills in coordination with Rescue 1122 and Civil Defence, ensuring students and staff are prepared for emergencies.
Safety and Communication Measures
Administrations are required to mark emergency exit routes clearly for students and display important contact numbers in the principal’s office and staff rooms. Schools must also install water reservoirs to enhance preparedness during crises.
Security Clearance and Compliance
All schools are now mandated to obtain security clearance from the Special Branch. These measures aim to strengthen campus security and provide a safe learning environment for students throughout Punjab.
