Punjab Govt Implements New Safety Measures for Schools as They Reopen
As schools in Punjab prepare to reopen tomorrow, the provincial government has introduced new safety protocols to ensure the well-being of students and staff, particularly in light of ongoing concerns over air pollution. While schools outside of Lahore and Multan will begin operations tomorrow, classes will start no earlier than 8:45 AM to mitigate the impact of smog. Mandatory Safety Measures for All Schools
The government has mandated that all students, teachers, and staff wear face masks while on school premises. School administrations will be tasked with ensuring strict adherence to this rule. Additionally, all outdoor activities, including sports, will remain suspended until further notice to minimize exposure to harmful air pollution.
Staggered Break Times to Minimize Congestion
To further promote safety, schools will implement staggered break times according to grade levels. This approach aims to reduce crowding in hallways and common areas, maintaining social distancing and enhancing safety for all students.
Minister Addresses Measures and Improved Conditions
Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb emphasized the necessity of these tough measures to safeguard public health. She highlighted that favorable wind conditions had helped clear the smog, leading to a reduction in pollution levels across the province. Following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, educational institutions outside Lahore and Multan will resume tomorrow.
Commitment to Education and Health Safety
The Minister stressed the importance of maintaining educational continuity while also prioritizing the health and safety of students. She urged school officials to implement the safety measures diligently and expressed gratitude to the public for their understanding. Marriyum Aurangzeb also acknowledged the efforts of the Environmental Protection Agency EPA, local police, and administrative bodies for their role in managing the environmental situation effectively.
