Punjab Government Sanctions Upgradation of 200 Afternoon Schools
The Punjab government has given approval to upgrade 200 afternoon schools, raising them from primary to higher levels of education. This initiative aims to enhance educational facilities and provide improved learning opportunities for students across the province. Financial Allocation for the Project
Over Rs. 470 million has been earmarked for this program. Of these schools, 64 institutions are part of an initial pilot project, while an additional 136 schools will be upgraded in the current phase. The Finance Department has already disbursed Rs. 100 million as the first installment to kickstart the initiative.
Project Timeline and Monitoring
The program will be implemented from April 1, 2025, to June 30, 2027. District Education Authorities have been directed to provide detailed reports on the utilization of funds to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the project’s duration.
Guidelines for Teachers’ Recruitment and Salaries
To ensure smooth execution of the scheme, the Punjab government has also issued clear instructions regarding the recruitment of teachers and the timely disbursement of their salaries. These measures are aimed at maintaining quality standards and ensuring uninterrupted educational activities in upgraded schools.
