Punjab Government Initiative Student Bike Program 2024
Punjab Government has initiated a project aimed at providing bikes to students through an accessible installment plan. In the initial phase, 20,000 bikes will be distributed, comprising 19,000 fuel-powered bikes and 1,000 e-bikes. The Chief Minister of Punjab, emphasized the importance of electric bikes in reducing pollution. However, due to concerns such as low mileage and battery theft, fuel-powered bikes will also be provided alongside electric ones. Affordable Installments:
To ease the financial burden on students, the down payment has been reduced to Rs. 20,000, with monthly installments being less than Rs. 5,000. Bike distribution is scheduled to commence from May 2024.
Recognition for High Achievers:
A separate scheme will be introduced to award bikes to high-achieving students. For fuel-powered bikes, the monthly installment will be less than Rs. 5,000, while for e-bikes, it will be less than Rs. 10,000. In rural areas, 70% of the quota is reserved for male students, with 30% allocated for female students.
Application Process:
The application portal is now open, with the deadline for submission set for April 29, 2024. Applications can be submitted online.
