Punjab Education New Guidelines for Schools 2026 27

Punjab Education New Guidelines for Schools 2026 27

The Punjab education authorities have officially approved a comprehensive set of Punjab education guidelines 2026 for all government schools in Punjab ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 academic session. This new policy, which includes 34 key administrative and academic measures, is designed to elevate teaching quality, improve school management, and ensure a more disciplined learning environment across the province.

Strict Ban on Teacher Mobile Phone Use

In a major move to curb distractions, the government has imposed a complete ban on mobile phone use by teachers during school hours. Under these new Punjab school education updates, teachers are required to deposit their mobile devices in the school office upon arrival. Only the headteacher and junior clerk are permitted to retain phones for official correspondence and emergencies, ensuring that the teaching quality in Punjab schools remains the primary focus during class time.

Establishment of Zakat Banks and Book Banks

A standout feature of the Punjab government school policy is the mandatory creation of a Zakat Bank in every institution. These banks will collect local donations to support deserving students with their educational expenses. Furthermore, schools must establish a Book Bank to manage surplus textbooks, ensuring that every student has access to necessary learning materials. These initiatives aim to reduce the out rate and provide a safety net for underprivileged families.

Mandatory School Uniform and Security Protocols

To maintain discipline, the authorities have reiterated a strict Punjab school uniform policy. Students failing to wear the complete and proper uniform will not be permitted entry into school premises.

On the safety front, school security in Punjab remains a top priority. The latest directives mandate:
  • Presence of guards or gatekeepers at the gate throughout school hours.
  • Functional metal detectors at all entry points.
  • The installation of panic buttons linked to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority.

Enrollment Targets and Academic Environment

The Punjab school education department has launched a vigorous admissions campaign with a minimum student enrollment target increase of 7%. To support this, classrooms will be formally allocated to teachers, who are tasked with creating a "positive academic environment" using educational charts, timetables, and class mottos.

The School-Based Assessment SBA will continue as per the schedule, with dedicated marking centers established to ensure that results are checked and uploaded promptly. This data-driven approach is part of the broader Punjab education reforms aimed at tracking institutional targets and teacher performance throughout the 2026 academic year.
