Punjab Declares Saturday Holiday for Special Education Institutions
Lahore, The Punjab Department of Special Education has officially announced that all special education schools and training centers in the province will now observe Saturday as an additional weekly holiday, alongside Sunday.
According to an official notification issued by the department, the decision aims to provide additional rest and support to students with disabilities and teaching staff, ensuring a more balanced and productive academic schedule.
Copies of the notification have been sent to all District Education Officers DEOs and Chief Executive Officers CEOs of Education to ensure immediate compliance with the directive.
Officials noted that the new measure will take effect from next week, and schools will now operate five days a week instead of six.
A senior official from the department stated that this step is part of the governments ongoing effort to enhance the well-being, comfort, and inclusion of special needs students while maintaining high educational standards.
“This decision reflects our commitment to creating an accessible and supportive learning environment for every child,”
said a spokesperson for the department.
The move has been widely welcomed by teachers and parents, who believe it will help improve mental health, focus, and energy levels among both students and educators.
