Punjab Considers Shifting Matric Exam Dates After Ramadan
Punjab education authorities are considering rescheduling Matric exams 2026 to take place after Ramadan next year, according to news channel. The proposal aims to address concerns about the challenges faced by students in preparing for exams during the fasting month. The Higher Education Department has started reviewing the recommendation, which was submitted by the provincial education minister. Current Exam Dates and Proposed Changes
Earlier in November, it was announced that Matric exams are set to start on March 3, 2026, while intermediate board exams are scheduled for May 5. However, with Ramadan expected to begin on February 18, 2026, and Eid-ul-Fitr likely falling on March 19 or 20, officials are discussing the possibility of moving the exams to after Eid to avoid overlapping with the holy month.
Impact on Students and Teachers’ Perspective
In Lahore alone, over 300,000 students appear for Matric exams each year. Teachers note that many students struggle to maintain their study routines while fasting. They argue that holding exams after Ramadan would allow students to prepare more effectively, balancing their religious practices with academic responsibilities without added pressure.
