Punjab Changes Holiday Policy and School Timings
On Saturday, the Punjab government announced a new policy implementing two weekly holidays for schools across the province.
Effective from August 15, all schools in Punjab will now observe holidays on both Saturdays and Sundays, as stated by the Department of School Education Punjab. This policy aims to reduce teachers workloads and promote a more balanced work schedule. According to the notification, single-shift schools will operate from Monday to Thursday, with classes held between 8:00 AM and 1:30 PM.
New School Timings for Students:
- Single Shift Schools:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Double Shift/Afternoon Schools:
- Monday to Thursday:
- Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM
- Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM
- Friday:
- Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
- Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Revised Working Hours for Teachers:
- Single Shift Schools:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM
- Double Shift/Afternoon Schools:
- Monday to Thursday:
- Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
- Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM
- Friday:
- Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM
- Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM
- Alternate Saturdays: 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
