Punjab Boards Implement Centralized Practical Marking 2026

Punjab Boards Implement Centralized Practical Marking 2026

The Punjab educational boards have announced a significant shift in the evaluation process for Punjab Boards Inter Part-II Practical Exams 2026. Starting July 10, 2026, a new centralized marking policy will be applied to the written component of practical papers for subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and Statistics. Under this revised system, written answer sheets will no longer be graded at examination centers. Instead, they will be sent to the board level for centralized evaluation, mirroring the standardized process currently used for theory Exams.

Comprehensive Student Assessment Guidelines

While the written assessment has been centralized, students remain responsible for all other aspects of their Punjab Boards Inter practical exam performance. Assessment criteria at the practical centers will continue to encompass live laboratory work, the quality of handwritten practical notebooks, and performance during the viva voce. This multi-faceted approach ensures that students maintain proficiency in both hands-on laboratory techniques and theoretical application. Candidates are urged to prepare thoroughly for all segments, as the final grade will reflect a composite score from both the decentralized laboratory performance and the centrally marked written answer sheets.

Updated Marks Distribution for Intermediate Practical Exams

To provide clarity on the new marks distribution, students should note the following breakdown for the 2026 academic cycle:

Physics: 16 marks for performance/notebook/viva and 14 marks for the written component Total: 30.
Chemistry: 14 marks for performance/notebook/viva and 16 marks for the written component Total: 30.
Biology: 13 marks for performance/notebook/viva and 17 marks for the written component Total: 30.
Computer Science: 26 marks for performance/notebook/viva and 24 marks for the written component Total: 50.
Statistics: 20 marks for performance/notebook/viva and 10 marks for the written component Total: 30.

By standardizing the written practical examination process, Punjab boards aim to enhance transparency and consistency across all educational institutions. Students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these updated requirements to ensure optimal performance.
