Punjab Allocates Rs 110 Billion to Improve Public Education System
For the fiscal year 2025–26, the Punjab government has allocated Rs. 110 billion to upgrade and enhance the province’s government school system. This major investment is aimed at resolving persistent issues in approximately 38,000 public schools by improving infrastructure, filling facility gaps, and ensuring the availability of essential resources. As part of the development plan, 50,000 new classrooms will be built to ease overcrowding, and efforts will be made to furnish schools that currently lack proper furniture. In a bid to elevate educational standards, 72 selected schools will be converted into “Schools of Eminence,” introducing a model for high-quality learning environments.
Major Investment to Improve School Infrastructure and Learning Standards
The initiative also includes finalizing the construction of boundary walls and delivering other critical amenities. A new implementation model will involve school management councils in decision-making, ensuring transparency and community participation. The government aims to equip all schools with basic facilities by December 31, 2025.
In addition, financial support has been approved for A-class employees and teaching staff at the University of Engineering and Technology, Kala Shah Kaku UETK, and scholarships will be provided to deserving students in government schools to promote academic success.
