Private Institutes Opposes Extension of Winter Vacation in KPK

The decision by the caretaker government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP to prolong the winter break for schools in the province has been met with strong resistance from the Private Education Network PEN in KP. The students, teachers, parents and admin staff of all private schools and colleges across KPK can note that PEN Opposes Extension of Winter Vacation in KPK.
Call for Reconsideration of Winter Vacation Extension
PEN, in an official statement, is urging the relevant authorities to reconsider their choice to extend the winter vacation. Muhammad Saleem Khan, the president of the network, expressed discontent with the decision, emphasizing that choices made by education officials need to align with practical realities.
Concerns Over Impact on Students Future
Khan cautioned that such decisions could potentially jeopardize the academic future of students. The Provincial President for PEN highlighted the necessity for students to have a minimum of 240 instructional days in an academic year to cover the entire syllabus.
Shortened Study Days for Matriculation and Intermediate Students
After factoring in gazetted vacations, matriculation students are left with only 126 days, and intermediate students with 91 days to complete their syllabus. This raises concerns about the adequacy of time for thorough syllabus coverage.
Challenges and Questions Raised by PEN
Muhammad Saleem Khan pointed out the challenges faced by students and parents due to the early scheduling of matriculation exams. He questioned the logic behind extending winter vacations, citing teachers involvement in elections, and emphasized that private school teachers are not part of the election process.
Proposal for Coping with Harsh Weather
In response to the weather conditions, Khan proposed starting schools at 9 am as a practical measure to address the challenges posed by the harsh winter weather.
