PMDC Sets Rs. 1.89 Million as Annual Fee Limit for Medical and Dental Colleges
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC has announced that the maximum annual tuition fee for private medical and dental colleges for the academic year 2025–26 will be Rs. 1.89 million. Tuition Fee Increased by 5% for 2025–26; Future Adjustments to Follow Inflation Rate
As per the PMDC Act 2022, the fee limit of Rs. 1.8 million for 2024–25 has been revised upward by 5% for the upcoming session. Starting from 2026–27, annual fee revisions will be linked to the Consumer Price Index CPI inflation rate.
The revised fee structure was proposed by the Medical Education Committee established under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In accordance with Section 207 of the PMDC Act, all private medical and dental colleges have been instructed to publicly display their approved fee structures at least three months prior to the start of admissions.
The PMDC has cautioned that institutions found charging or advertising fees above the approved limit will face disciplinary actions — including suspension of accreditation, admission bans, or other legal proceedings under Section 33 of the Act.
Concerns over excessive tuition fees first surfaced last year when parents raised objections to steep increases. The Senate Standing Committee on Health took notice of the issue after PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui voiced repeated concerns.
In response, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appointed a committee led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to review and rationalize the fees. Following the review, the PMDC imposed a cap of Rs. 1.8 million for the 2024–25 academic session — which has now been raised by 5% for 2025–26.
