PMDC Mandates Student Registration and Raises Fees 2026

PMDC Mandates Student Registration and Raises Fees 2026

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has enforced a new regulatory framework aimed at tightening oversight across all health education institutions. In an official notification, PMDC has made it compulsory for every admitted student to be registered through the councils designated portal. This move is designed to curb irregular admissions and ensure that all medical and dental colleges operate strictly within their allocated seat capacities.

Revised Fee Caps and Administrative Penalties
Alongside registration reforms, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has approved a tuition fee hike for 19 private institutions. This decision follows a comprehensive review by the Committee on Medical Education, which adjusted the annual fee limit based on recent inflation and operational cost increases.

Violation CategoryFine / Penalty Amount
Late Student RegistrationRs. 50,000 per student
Over-admitting Beyond Seats100% of the Tuition Fee
Delay in Graduation ReportsRs. 75,000 per student
Late Merit/Admission ListsRs. 500,000 fixed fine

Institutions that repeatedly violate these PMDC Regulatory Rules risk being placed on a restrictive "grey list," which could lead to a permanent reduction in their authorized seat allocation for future academic sessions.

Fee Adjustments and Parental Concerns
The council has authorized selected private colleges to increase their annual tuition fees up to a maximum of Rs. 2,147,483. This replaces the previous cap of Rs. 1.89 million. While the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council justifies this as a necessary step due to the rising Consumer Price Index, many parents have expressed concerns regarding the transparency of these additional charges.

Institutional Compliance and Moon Sighting
Colleges have been directed to publicize their fee structures at least three months prior to the admission cycle. To ensure Medical Education Quality, the council has also mandated that annual exam results and student records be submitted without delay. Failure to comply will result in a daily recurring fine of Rs. 50,000 until the records are updated on the central Student Registration Portal.

This oversight expansion is part of a broader effort to modernize the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council administrative systems. By integrating digital tracking, the council aims to protect the academic interests of students while holding institutions accountable for their financial and administrative conduct.
