PMDC Makes Major Changes to MDCAT

PMDC Makes Major Changes to MDCAT

In an important reform aimed at unifying the Medical and Dental College Admission Test MDCAT, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC has declared a fundamental change in the way the exam will be conducted. The council plans to introduce a centralized question bank to address widespread concerns regarding varying levels of difficulty across provincial tests. 2,000 Expert-Reviewed Questions in Progress

According to PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, a repository of 2,000 meticulously reviewed questions is currently being developed in collaboration with academic professionals. This step is a response to the frequent grievances raised by students and educators over inconsistencies in MDCAT exams conducted by different provincial bodies.

Ensuring Fairness and Transparency

Dr. Taj underlined the importance of creating equal opportunities for all medical aspirants across Pakistan. Under the revised framework, all provinces and testing agencies will be obligated to draw exam questions from this unified bank, replacing the earlier method of independently generating separate questions. This shift is intended to enhance fairness and bring uniformity to the assessment process.

MDCAT 2025 Scheduled for October

It was also confirmed that the MDCAT 2025 will take place in October, following the announcement of Intermediate Part II results. This timing aims to better align the exam with the academic calendar, ensuring students have sufficient time to prepare after their board exams.

Nationwide Impact on Medical Admissions

This centralized approach marks a turning point in how the MDCAT will be administered moving forward. The PMDC’s initiative is expected to eliminate regional disparities, improve transparency, and create a more equitable system for evaluating students seeking admission to medical and dental colleges across the country.
