PMDC Increases MDCAT 2025 Test Centers

Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC has announced the establishment of new examination centers for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test MDCAT 2025, aiming to make the process easier and more accessible for students, particularly those living in remote areas. As part of this plan, students from Sindh and Balochistan will now have the option to appear for the test in Islamabad. Additionally, Jacobabad has been introduced as a new test center to accommodate students from upper Sindh, who previously had to undertake long journeys to Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, or Sukkur. This decision addresses repeated concerns raised by students and parents about the financial and emotional stress of traveling long distances. The inclusion of Jacobabad as an MDCAT center has brought great relief to students in the region. One female applicant expressed her happiness, sharing that this would be her first opportunity to take the exam within her city. She recalled the nine-hour travel to Karachi for last year’s test, describing it as draining and stressful, which, combined with unfamiliar surroundings and overcrowded venues, affected her overall performance.

In another major step, Sukkur IBA University and Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta, will jointly establish a dedicated MDCAT test center in Islamabad. This development will significantly benefit students from Sindh and Balochistan who are currently living and preparing in the federal capital, as they will no longer need to return to their home provinces to appear in the exam.

Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University, highlighted the university’s successful management of the MDCAT retake last year after a paper leak incident in Sindh. Despite having limited preparation time, the exam was conducted in a fair and transparent manner, with any technical issues handled swiftly to ensure smooth proceedings.
