PEC Launches Skill Training for Young Engineers

PEC Launches Skill Training for Young Engineers

The Pakistan Engineering Council has officially commenced a comprehensive one-month skill development training program for graduate engineers across the country. Announced in September 2026, this vital phase targets the second cohort of the Graduate Engineer Trainee Placement Program, structured similarly to a professional house job. Covering 1,400 trainee engineers split into strategic batches, the initiative combines rigorous field experience with specialized workplace training.

This nationwide effort addresses a long-standing disconnect between traditional university instruction and industry demands. Fresh graduates often possess robust theoretical knowledge but face hurdles adapting to corporate environments. By integrating structured modules with financial backing, the PEC aims to bridge this competency gap, ensuring young professionals enter the workforce equipped with both technical know-how and vital interpersonal skills.

Program Architecture and Industrial Collaboration Framework

The training structure follows a unique hybrid model designed to maximize professional exposure. Trainees complete five months of hands-on field engagement with over 60 verified industrial partners, followed by the intensive one-month skill development module. Throughout this six-month span, participants receive a monthly stipend of PKR 50,000, easing financial pressures while they upskill.

Classroom and interactive sessions are conducted five days a week across eight major regional centers, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Multan, Hyderabad, and Quetta. The curriculum moves beyond standard engineering concepts, addressing communication, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, business writing, and engineering ethics. Furthermore, final-week modules incorporate specialized personality development certifications arranged in collaboration with the National Defence University.
