Paper Leaks in Punjab Now Carry 3 Year Jail Term
The Punjab government has officially launched a high-stakes War on Cheating as the Matriculation Examinations are set to begin on March 27. With approximately 275,000 students appearing this year, the provincial authorities are leaving no stone unturned to protect the integrity of the results. Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has introduced a Tech Ban inside halls, prohibiting all mobile phones and electronic devices for both students and staff.
To ensure transparency, the government has mandated that all Examination Centers be equipped with CCTV Cameras for real-time monitoring. This digital surveillance is part of a broader Security plan that includes the imposition of Section 144 around all testing locations. This legal order bans unauthorized gatherings and entry within a specific radius of the centers, allowing only students with valid roll number slips to enter.
Key Measures for the 2026 Matric Exams:
- Real-time Surveillance: Continuous monitoring via CCTV to spot unfair means instantly.
- Strict Tech Ban: No smartphones or smartwatches allowed for anyone inside the center.
- Legal Shield: The imposition of Section 144 to prevent external interference.
- Rapid Response: Security agencies are authorized for on-the-spot arrests of the "booti mafia."
The governments message is clear: the era of organized cheating is over. These Matriculation Examinations will serve as a for merit-based education in the province.
