Pakistan Large-Scale AI Training Initiative for Digital Workforce

Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has announced plans to introduce 20,000 online training programs in Artificial Intelligence under the National AI Advancement Initiative NAIAI. The project is designed to prepare Pakistan’s workforce for the fast-growing digital economy and strengthen the country’s technological capabilities. Govt to Introduce Thousands of Artificial Intelligence Courses Across the Country

According to officials, the training programs will run for six to twelve months and will be offered through a modern learning management system. The courses are intended for a wide range of participants, including fresh graduates, teachers, government employees, freelancers, and professionals from different industries.

The initiative aims to improve Pakistan’s role in the international AI market by developing skilled human resources, encouraging innovation, and increasing the use of artificial intelligence in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and industry. Participants will receive professional certifications in specialized areas including machine learning, deep learning, and AI ethics, which are considered highly valuable skills in today’s global technology sector.

The program will also focus on improving AI awareness among policymakers and business leaders. Special AI literacy courses will be introduced for civil servants and corporate executives to help them understand the use of artificial intelligence in governance, decision-making, and business strategy.

To support the project, the ministry has invited training and capacity-building organizations to help develop the learning management system and prepare AI courses that match both local and international market requirements.

Technology expert Asim Tausif Khan stated that artificial intelligence could provide Pakistan with a major opportunity to increase its contribution to the global IT industry, where the country’s current share remains very small. He emphasized the importance of quickly training young people and professionals to meet increasing demand in Pakistan and Gulf countries.

Under the National AI Policy 2025, Pakistan plans to train one million individuals in AI-related skills by the year 2030. The policy also includes goals such as preparing 10,000 AI trainers, offering 20,000 internships every year, and providing 3,000 advanced research scholarships annually.

IT exporter and AI trainer Dr. Noman Said explained that adopting AI technologies has become necessary for countries and workers who want to remain competitive in the modern global economy. He encouraged educational institutions and private organizations to work together and introduce AI education at the school level to prepare future generations for upcoming technological challenges.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Amin, chairman of the Pakistan Freelancers Association, warned that many freelance jobs could be affected by artificial intelligence if workers fail to improve their skills. However, he added that AI also creates new opportunities for freelancers who are ready to learn advanced technologies and adapt to changing market demands.
