New School Timings Implemented in Islamabad




Federal Directorate of Education FDE has introduced new timings for schools and colleges across Islamabad. According to a notification issued on Monday, these timings will be effective from August 5, when schools reopen after the extended summer break. The students can check fresh information of New School Timings Implemented in Islamabad.


Revised Timings for Single and Double Shift Institutes

The new schedule is as follows:


  • Single Shift Institutes:


    • Monday to Thursday: 07:30 am to 01:30 pm

    • Friday: 07:30 am to 12:30 pm


  • Double Shift Institutes:


    • Morning Shift:



Monday to Thursday: 07:30 am to 01:30 pm

Friday: 07:30 am to 12:30 pm



    • Evening Shift:



Monday to Thursday: 02:00 pm to 07:00 pm

Friday: 02:30 pm to 07:00 pm


  • Pre-I Montessori/Prep:


Monday to Friday: 08:00 am to 12:00 pm


  • Ex-FG Colleges:


Monday to Thursday: 08:30 am to 02:00 pm / 04:00 pm

Friday: 08:30 am to 12:30 pm


Extension of Summer Break Due to Heatwave

Previously, on Sunday, the Federal Ministry of Education extended the summer holidays for schools and colleges in Islamabad until August 4 due to the ongoing hot weather. The notification stated:

“Due to the intense hot and humid weather in the district Federal Capital, it has been decided to extend summer vacation in ICT schools/colleges till August 4, 2024.”


Summer Break Extension in Sindh and Balochistan

Similarly, the provincial governments of Sindh and Balochistan have also announced extensions of their summer breaks. Educational institutions in these provinces will now reopen on August 15, 2024.


Anticipation for Holiday Extensions in Other Provinces

Following the announcements from Islamabad, Sindh, and Balochistan, students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab are also hoping for an extension of their summer breaks. However, as of now, government officials have not provided any updates regarding this matter.
