New PECTA Test to Decide Punjab School Payments
The Punjab government has launched a new policy aimed at assessing the academic performance of outsourced schools by connecting their financial support to the examination results of their students. Through this initiative, the government intends to ensure that educational institutions receiving public funds maintain high academic standards and demonstrate effective teaching outcomes. New Evaluation System Introduced to Measure Academic Results in Outsourced Schools
According to the new decision, payments from the government will only be provided to those outsourced schools that achieve a pass rate exceeding 90 percent in the examinations. Schools that fail to reach this will not receive the per-student financial support normally provided by the government. This approach is designed to encourage schools to focus more seriously on improving student learning outcomes and academic performance.
To implement the policy, the Punjab Education Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority PECTA will organize a special school-based test specifically for students studying in outsourced schools. The examination results obtained through this testing system will be submitted directly to the Punjab government for evaluation and further decision-making regarding the release of funds.
The responsibility for preparing and printing the examination papers will also lie with PECTA. In addition, the testing process will be carefully monitored to ensure transparency and fairness. Divisional directors and other senior education officials will supervise the examinations and oversee the entire process so that the assessment is conducted in a proper and credible manner.
The new evaluation framework will also include younger students studying in the early grades. Pupils enrolled in grade one and grade two will participate in oral examinations as part of the assessment system. These oral tests are intended to evaluate basic learning abilities and provide a more complete picture of the quality of early education in these institutions.
Officials from the Punjab Education Department explained that the primary objective of this initiative is to raise the academic standards of outsourced schools across the province. By linking government payments to measurable student results, the authorities aim to encourage schools to deliver better educational outcomes. The policy is expected to promote accountability and ensure that government funds are directed only toward institutions that demonstrate strong academic performance and effective learning environments for their students.
