New HEC University Rankings Based on IT Skill Test 2026
IT and Computing students across Pakistan have a major date to circle on their calendars: April 4 and 5, 2026. The Higher Education Commission HEC has officially announced these dates for the first-ever National Skill Competency Test. This computer-based exam is designed to be the ultimate bridge between a university degree and a high-paying tech career.
Who is eligible?
The test is open to students currently enrolled in their 7th and 8th semesters of computing-related programs, including:
- Computer Science & Software Engineering
- Artificial Intelligence AI & Data Science
- Cyber Security and Information Technology
Why take the test?
Participation is free of charge, and the rewards for high performers are significant. Successful candidates will receive a joint certificate from HEC, PSEB, and P@SHA, placing them in an elite national talent pool accessible to global employers. Additionally, students earn one academic credit and receive priority for internships and international certifications. To register, students must contact their university’s designated focal person immediately.
