New Graduate Education Policy 2023 Formulated by HEC
Higher Education Commission HEC has recently introduced the Graduate Education Policy, set to take effect from the Fall 2023 semester. Notable changes include relaxed CGPA conditions for admission and a more dynamic assessment of degree completion duration. The noteworthy amendment is made for the students by HEC is provided here as New Graduate Education Policy 2023 Formulated by HEC.
The policy overhaul also aims to streamline the HEC approval process and remove the requirement of a NOC No Objection Certificate to become a doctoral supervisor. It places importance on faculty alignment and compatibility, ensuring that the right mentors guide doctoral candidates. The Graduate Education Policy 2023 has also introduced comprehensive guidelines for conducting examinations, preparing doctoral theses, and interpreting equivalence reports. These guidelines aim to enhance academic standards, foster original research, and uphold the ethical conduct of research and study within higher education institutions.
A key focus of the new policy is to emphasize the discipline of doctoral research, thereby promoting a culture of academic integrity. It delineates the roles and responsibilities of supervisors, supervisees, and departments overseeing advanced studies and research. Additionally, the policy aims to create an environment conducive to academic dignity and ethics while providing effective mechanisms to address any complaints that may arise during research activities.
