NAVTTC Launches China-Inspired Skills Training Programs Across Pakistan
In a major step toward overhauling Pakistan’s technical and vocational training system, the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission NAVTTC has introduced several new initiatives modeled on successful Chinese frameworks. These programs aim to equip young people with in-demand, market-relevant skills while also focusing on women’s empowerment in trades typically dominated by men, according to NAVTTC Chairperson Gulmina Bilal Ahmad. Empowering Youth and Women Through Technical Education
During an exclusive conversation with *China Economic Net*, Ms. Ahmad highlighted that occupations such as plumbing, mobile phone repair, carpentry, and electrical work—traditionally considered male-only fields—are now being included in women-exclusive training sessions.
“This initiative began as a pilot project last year under a special directive from the Prime Minister,” she said, “and it has now become a permanent part of NAVTTC’s training portfolio.”
