Majority of Karachi Students Skip College Admissions
Karachis higher secondary education system is facing a serious challenge as the vast majority of students have declined to submit college admission forms, despite the closure of the application deadline for first-year intermediate admissions. Over 90% of Intermediate Applicants Withhold Forms Due to Merit List Concerns
According to Professor Dr. Naveed Rab Siddiqui, Sindh’s Director General of Colleges, only about 7,000 out of nearly 98,000 students have submitted their admission forms. This means over 91,000 students have opted out of the process due to widespread dissatisfaction with seat placements.
Many students claim they were eligible on merit but were not offered seats in their preferred colleges. Hoping for a revision in the merit list, thousands have delayed form submission in anticipation of better placement opportunities.
However, Dr. Siddiqui made it clear that no changes will be made to the current merit list. He emphasized that students must accept the colleges they have been assigned and complete the admission process accordingly.
He further stated that while adjustments were allowed in previous years, this year’s merit list is final and non-negotiable, urging students and parents to act swiftly and avoid further delays.
