LGS On-Campus Exams Resume Amid Summer Vacations 2026
Lahore Grammar School LGS has once again stirred controversy by resuming on-campus academic assessments, openly challenging the official directives issued by the Punjab Education Department. Despite the mandatory provincial notification ordering all public and private educational institutions to remain closed, the elite school administration has directed students to appear for mid-term and final Exams. This defiance has raised serious questions regarding the enforcement of administrative policies on elite private schools in Pakistan.
Government Notification for Summer Holidays 2026 Delayed or Ignored?
The provincial authorities earlier announced an extended schedule for summer vacations in Punjab, spanning from May 22 to August 24. This precautionary measure was strictly implemented to safeguard student health against the intensifying regional heatwave and soaring seasonal temperatures. However, reports reveal that LGS managed to bypass the school closure directives, previously forcing students to attend regular classes and now scheduling mandatory physical Exams during the designated summer break.
Student Safety Concerns and Public Backlash Against Elite Schools
The institutions decision has triggered severe backlash from parents and student welfare groups, who express deep concern over child safety during extreme weather conditions. Adding to the controversy, the school administration reportedly instructed students to arrive in casual clothing rather than their official school uniform, and strategy allegedly aimed at evading public scrutiny and monitoring from district education authorities. As public outrage intensifies over this compromise on student health and safety, community members are urgently calling on the government to penalize non-compliant institutions and ensure uniform implementation of the law.
