Lahore Limits Private School Fee Hike
The District Education Authority Lahore has officially instructed all private schools to limit their annual fee increases to a maximum of 5%, ensuring affordability and fairness in the education system. This directive, issued through an official letter, emphasizes that schools must follow a government-approved fee structure and are prohibited from collecting more than one month’s fee at a time.
In a move to protect students and parents, the notice strictly bans the collection of advance payments beyond a single month and forbids charging students for summer camps. Furthermore, students cannot be expelled for delays in fee payments, offering critical relief to families facing financial hardship.
The authority also highlighted that schools cannot compel parents to purchase books or uniforms from specific shops or vendors, promoting consumer freedom and preventing monopolistic practices.
Schools found violating these rules will be dealt with under the relevant education laws, and strict action will be taken. This decision marks a significant step toward regulating private education and protecting parents from financial exploitation.
