Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Add AI in Schools and Colleges March 2026

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Add AI in Schools and Colleges March 2026

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to make Artificial Intelligence AI a mandatory part of education in government schools and colleges. According to the plan, AI studies will be introduced for students from grades 6 to 12 beginning in March 2026, as part of efforts to update and modernize the provincial education system. The students can get latest information of KP Govt to Add Artificial Intelligence as a Compulsory Subject in Education Institutions.

AI Education to Be Introduced from Middle to Higher Secondary Levels
Official records indicate that the province currently faces a serious shortage of the facilities required to teach AI. A total of 5,525 information technology laboratories are needed, including 225 in higher secondary institutions and 3,515 in middle-level schools, many of which do not currently have the necessary infrastructure.

Education Department officials have acknowledged that the current computer science syllabus does not include AI-related topics, highlighting the need for major curriculum changes. To address this gap, the government plans to gradually add AI content, ranging from 35 to 50 percent, across various grade levels in a manner suitable for students’ learning capacities.

As part of this initiative, the government will also appoint 7,555 IT teachers to ensure effective instruction and help students develop essential digital and technological skills. The aim is to better prepare learners for future academic pathways and professional opportunities.

Authorities stated that this decision reflects global technological advancements and is intended to make students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa more competitive at both national and international levels. Work on curriculum design, teacher hiring, and the development of IT infrastructure will be carried out in stages before the full implementation of the program.
