Karachi University Announces Eid and Pakistan Day Holidays 2026
The University of Karachi KU has officially announced a series of public holidays in alignment with the federal and provincial government schedules. According to a notification issued by the Registrar’s office, the university will remain closed from Friday, March 20, 2026, to Monday, March 23, 2026. This extended break is observed on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and the national observance of Pakistan Day.
Scope of the Closure
The University of Karachi administration has clarified that all academic departments, administrative offices, and research centers will suspend operations during this period. This includes:
- All morning and evening teaching departments.
- Administrative secretariats and the accounts office.
- Affiliated institutes and campus-based laboratories.
Impact on Examinations
Students are advised that any examinations previously scheduled between March 20 and March 23 have been postponed. The Controller of Examinations is expected to announce the revised schedule for these papers shortly. Students should stay in touch with their respective departmental heads or check the official university portal for the new dates to avoid any confusion.
Resumption of Activities
Regular academic and administrative activities at the University of Karachi are set to resume on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. The university security and essential services staff will remain on duty according to their specific rosters to ensure campus safety during the long weekend.
