Karachi Private Schools Resume Classes Despite Extended Summer Break
Despite clear directives from the Sindh government, Private Schools in Karachi have resumed classes, openly defying the official mandate to remain closed until August 15. This decision, which affects pre-nursery, nursery, and kindergarten students, has sparked considerable controversy and concern among parents and educators.
The Sindh government had extended the summer vacation period, citing health and safety reasons, and expected all schools to comply. However, several private schools have decided to restart classes early, justifying their actions by claiming the need to prepare for the upcoming August 14 Independence Day celebrations. This rationale has been met with skepticism and alarm.
Parents are particularly worried about the potential health risks of sending young children back to school before the official end of the summer break. Educators are also questioning the necessity of this move, given the availability of alternative methods to prepare for Independence Day that do not involve gathering young children in classrooms.
This defiance of government orders by Karachis private schools highlights the ongoing tension between educational institutions and regulatory authorities. The safety and well-being of students should remain the top priority, and the decision to resume classes prematurely has put this at risk.
