Islamabad Regulators Impose Ban on Unapproved O-Level History Book
Educational Authority Enforces Directives to Clear Classrooms and Classify Illegal Sales
According to regulators, the textbook has lacked official Cambridge endorsement since September 2021, when Cambridge International formally rescinded its approval and notified the publisher. To prevent future curriculum discrepancies, ICT PEIRA announced that private schools in Islamabad are strictly prohibited from introducing any new textbooks without first securing an official No Objection Certificate NOC.
To guarantee strict compliance with the new mandate, the administration has set up surprise inspection teams. These task forces will conduct unannounced evaluations of local schools to confirm the controversial material has been thoroughly discarded. Officials warned that institutions caught ignoring the directive will face heavy fines and severe legal consequences.
Furthermore, enforcement actions will extend past the school gates. The district administration has sanctioned targeted raids on commercial bookstores, declaring the retail sale of any educational book that lacks valid NOC approval to be completely illegal.
