Islamabad Education Drive to Enroll 25000 Children in 2026
Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training has announced an ambitious plan to bring 25,000 out-of-school children in the Islamabad Capital Territory into the education system within the next three months. This goal is part of a broader three-year strategy aimed at ensuring that every child who is currently not attending school is given access to education. The effort follows the launch of the “No Child Left Behind” campaign introduced by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, who serves as the Federal Minister for Education. The campaign reflects the government’s intention to address the issue of children who remain outside the formal education system and to ensure that they are provided with proper learning opportunities. To support this initiative, several educational organizations and departments have been mobilized to identify children who are not enrolled in school. Field teams from Federal Directorate of Education, National Commission for Human Development, Basic Education Community Schools, and National Education Foundation are actively participating in the campaign. These teams are conducting door-to-door surveys across different areas of the capital to locate children who are not currently attending school. Once identified, efforts will be made to enroll them immediately so they can begin their educational journey without further delay.
The campaign also involves the participation of university students who have volunteered to assist with outreach and awareness activities. Their role is to support field teams and help connect with communities to encourage families to send their children to school. In addition to student volunteers, a number of local and international non-governmental organizations are working alongside the ministry to strengthen community engagement. These partnerships are expected to increase awareness about the importance of education and help reach families who may otherwise remain disconnected from the school system.
Another key aspect of the initiative is the establishment of new community schools located close to the homes of the children who are being enrolled. These schools will help address accessibility issues that often prevent children from attending regular educational institutions. By creating learning facilities within local communities, the government aims to ensure that students have convenient access to education and can attend classes without facing long travel distances or other barriers.
Nadeem Mahbub, the Federal Secretary for Education, emphasized that the progress of the enrollment campaign will be reviewed every week to ensure the targets are being met. He highlighted the government’s commitment to protecting every child’s fundamental right to education and stressed that no child should remain deprived of learning opportunities. According to him, the goal of enrolling 25,000 children within three months demonstrates the seriousness of the government’s efforts to tackle the issue of out-of-school children and expand access to education throughout the Islamabad Capital Territory.
