HEC UK Commonwealth Scholarships 2024

Applications are now open for the HEC Commonwealth Scholarships for Masters and Ph.D. programs in the UK. Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office FCDO, these scholarships aim to provide higher education opportunities to individuals from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries who might not otherwise be able to afford studying in the UK.

The NUMS Commonwealth Scholarships 2024 offer a substantial monthly stipend of approximately £1,347 around PKR 521,469 for Masters students and £1,236 for Ph.D. students, with additional allowances for living expenses, return air tickets, and study tours. Notably, students studying in the London metropolitan area receive a higher stipend of £1,652 for Masters and £1,516 for Ph.D. programs.

The application deadline for the HEC Commonwealth Masters and Ph.D. scholarships is October 15, 2024. Applicants must submit their applications to both the HEC and Commonwealth portals.

The scholarships cover various fields under six main themes: Science and technology for development, Strengthening health systems and capacity, Promoting global prosperity, Strengthening global peace, security, and governance, Strengthening resilience and response to crises, and Access, inclusion, and opportunity.

Eligibility Criteria include being a Pakistani or AJK national, holding a first-class Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, and not being currently enrolled in a UK university. For Ph.D. candidates, a first-class degree in a relevant postgraduate qualification is required. Applicants must also have a potential supervisor from a UK university and submit two references through the UK application system.

To apply, candidates should:

Complete the online application on the Commonwealth Scholarships website.

Submit their application via the HEC Scholarships Portal by October 17, 2023, at 4:00 PM Pakistan Time.

Ensure to apply to both portals by the deadline, and keep a copy of your application for your records. Note that HEC facilitates the process but does not bear financial responsibility for the scholarships. The final selection is made by the donor country, and submissions must adhere to the stated requirements to avoid disqualification.
