HEC Revises Roadmap for Teacher Education
Higher Education Commission has revised the roadmap for the Pakistani teachers education. HEC has announced that the teachers, who have completed their MA Education, BS Education and M.Ed, they can get the status of B.Ed 4 years, B.Ed Hons, B.Ed 2.5 years after 14 years of education and B.Ed 1.5 years after 16 years of education. The candidates can get detailed information that HEC Revises Roadmap for Teacher Education.
National Curriculum Review Committee has accorded the recommendation of this new roadmap in Education and the revised roadmap shows:
• The students of Associate Degree in Education ADE will be allowed to get in 5th semester of 3rd year of 4 year degree B.Ed program.
• The candidates, who have obtained Associate degree in the programs other than Education or two year erstwhile BA & BSc degree, which is now defunct, shall get admission in B.Ed program after completing deficiency courses 15 to 18 credit hours, which the admitting university will determine.
• The candidates, who have already passed their MA Education, M.Ed or BS Education, their qualification will be considered equal to B.Ed 4 years of B.Ed Hons, B.Ed 2.5 years after passing 14 years education and B.Ed 1.5 years after having 16 years education.
• The candidates, who have completed their 16 years of education or equivalent, in the disciplines other than Education, and they want to complete B.Ed, they will be allowed to apply for B.Ed 1.5 which will be added with 45 to 54 credit hours course work.
• The candidates, who have completed their 16 years of education or equivalent in non-relevant subjects, and they want to get admission in MS or MPhil Education, they will complete the deficiency courses of minimum 18 credit hours, which is part of their degree program and the admitting university will determine it on case to case basis.
• The Teacher Education Degrees will be called as ‘Bachelor of Education B.Ed from Fall 2023 and onwards.
• There are different education programs like Early Childhood Education, Elementary and Secondary Education and specializations like assessment, curriculum, academic planning, leadership, guidance and consoling etc, they will be reflected on the transcripts and not on the degrees.
