HEC Issues Warning to Universities for Not Implementing Online Classes
The Higher Education Commission HEC has instructed universities and degree-awarding institutions throughout Pakistan to strictly follow the austerity measures introduced under the prime minister’s plan for national resource conservation. Institutions Directed to Follow Energy Conservation Measures
In an official compliance notice sent to universities, the commission reported that a number of institutions had not put the required measures into practice despite receiving clear directions earlier.
HEC once again emphasized that these instructions are compulsory and must be implemented without delay. Under the directive, universities and degree-awarding institutions must move all academic activities to 100 percent online classes, introduce a four-day working week, and arrange work-from-home policies for staff where possible.
The commission stressed that these steps are mandatory and every institution must ensure they are applied immediately and completely.
HEC further warned that ignoring these instructions weakens national efforts aimed at conserving resources and could lead to strict disciplinary measures. Universities and institutions have therefore been directed to comply with the guidelines fully and implement them in both practice and spirit.
