HEC Announces Law Admission Test LAT

The Higher Education Commission HEC Pakistan, through its Education Testing Council ETC, invites applications for the Law Admission Test LAT. The LAT is a mandatory requirement for students seeking admission to the undergraduate LLB Degree Programme in HEC and Pakistan Bar Council PBC recognized public and private universities, institutions, and affiliated colleges across Pakistan.

This test is conducted in compliance with the directives of the Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan, as per its Order dated March 6, 2018, and Judgment dated August 31, 2018 C.P. No. 134/2012.

Who Can Apply for LAT

Students are eligible to apply if they:

Have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate HSSC or an equivalent examination 12 years of education, or

Have appeared in the final HSSC or equivalent examination and are awaiting results.

Test Pattern and Syllabus

The LAT evaluates candidates through a combination of subject-based MCQs and written components. The test structure is as follows:

The LAT is conducted on a quarterly basis in major cities of Pakistan. Any change in the test date will be announced through the official HEC and ETC websites.

Important Instructions:

Ensure that your name, CNIC number, and mobile number exactly match your CNIC.

Candidates who apply using the CNIC of parents, siblings, or any other person are strictly not allowed to appear in the test.

All queries or complaints must be resolved before the registration deadline, as no requests are entertained afterward due to security and logistical reasons.

Fee Submission

Test fee must be paid through 1Link/1Bill Invoice payment services using the generated consumer number.

After payment, candidates must click “Verify Online Payment” on their ETC Dashboard.

The test fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Test Day Requirements

Candidates must bring:

A printed copy of the Roll Number Slip

Original CNIC or Passport

Candidates under 18 years of age who do not possess a CNIC must bring:

Original B-Form

Original SSC or HSSC certificate with photograph

Test Centres and Rules

The test will be held in major cities across Pakistan.

Applicants may select their preferred test centre during registration.

Test centres cannot be changed after registration. However, ETC may reassign a centre if fewer than 250 candidates are registered at a selected location.

Prohibited Items:

Mobile phones

Calculators

Recording, communication, or imaging devices

Taking, uploading, or sharing images of the question paper is strictly prohibited and is a punishable offence under ETC rules.
