Heavy Rainfall Prompts KP to Cancel Matric Exams in Chitral
In response to heavy rainfall, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP government has taken the decision to cancel matriculation annual exam papers scheduled from Thursday to Saturday in Chitral. This decision, made during a meeting chaired by Education Minister Faisal Khan Tarakai in Peshawar, aims to ensure the safety of students amidst inclement weather conditions. Rescheduling and Security Measures
While exams in other districts will proceed according to the original timetable, the Education Minister has directed all boards to swiftly organize Exams staff duties and ensure comprehensive security measures and logistical arrangements. Moreover, stern warnings have been issued against any individuals found involved in the illicit leaking of exam papers, emphasizing the integrity of the Exams process.
Impact of Heavy Rains
The recent heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have led to significant consequences, as reported by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority PDMA. Tragically, at least 21 lives have been lost in various incidents across the province, underscoring the severity of the situation. Among the reported incidents, 330 instances of roof and wall collapses have been recorded, resulting in the destruction of 53 houses and damage to 277 structures. Furthermore, 32 individuals have sustained injuries in diverse incidents, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive disaster preparedness and response measures in the region.
