HC Stops Private Schools by Collecting Summer Vacation Fee

Islamabad High Court has barred the private schools in Islamabad and other federally administered areas to collect the fees from the students for summer vacations. The court summoned the secretary CADD and the chairman of Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA). The court issued the orders to the schools, which have already received the fee of June and July.
Petition Against Fees During Vacations
A local citizen filed the petition at IHC against the practice of the private schools for collecting the fee during the summer vacations. The court heard the petition and it issued the directives after listening to all stakeholders.
The orders of IHC reads that PEIRA is directed to all private schools are restrained from getting the fee for summer vacation from their students till the next date of hearing. The parents and students, who have already paid their fee for the said period, it shall be adjusted against the fee for the period after the summer vacations.
Lahore High Court and Peshawar High Court have fully and partially barred the private schools to collect the fee for the summer vacations. PHC ordered the schools to reduce the fee by 50% and LHC has directed to fully waive off the fee for the summer vacations. The court will resume the hearing of the case on 20 June.
Orders of Punjab Government
The Punjab government has ordered all private schools not to charge any fees from the students during the summer vacations. The government got published the advertisements in the newspapers and instructed the parents not to pay any fee for summer vacations. However, no school in Rawalpindi and other cities complied with the orders and they kept receiving the fees from the students for the summer vacations.
